The 300-megawatt project occupies 30,000 acres in the northwest Iowa counties of Clay and Dickinson, and is slated for completion in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Upland Prairie Wind project will consist of 100 to 150 slow-spinning wind turbines that will produce enough electricity to power nearly 102,000 U.S. homes. It is estimated that hundreds of local jobs will be created during construction and upon completion up to 15 full-time permanent jobs will be available for operations and maintenance.\u00a0Once finalized, the wind farm will be operated by Alliant.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are bringing more clean and cost-competitive wind energy to our customers,\u201d<\/em> said Doug Kopp, president of Alliant Energy\u2019s Iowa energy company. <em>\u201cIn addition, this project will add millions of dollars in additional property taxes to the local communities and lease payments to landowners.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cApex is well-positioned to partner with utilities,\u201d<\/em> said Mark Goodwin, president &amp; CEO of Apex. <em>\u201cOur development strategy focuses on what utilities prioritize most, including access to transmission, exceptional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/northleaf-capital-takes-texas-size-renewable-portfolio\/\">wind resources<\/a>, and strong community relationships.
