The people working from the newest space will join the already 1,800 employees in Manhattan, as well as the 2,250 new hires that will be based at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/amazon-to-open-first-fulfillment-center-in-ny\/\">Staten Island, N.Y. fulfillment center<\/a> currently under construction.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe&#8217;re excited to expand our presence in New York \u2013 we have always found great talent here,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Paul Kotas, senior vice president of worldwide advertising for Amazon, in prepared remarks.\u00a0<em>\u201cLast January we announced our plans to create 100,000 full-time, full-benefit jobs in the U.S. by mid-2018 \u2013 and we are on track to reach that goal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>The newest location\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Amazon signed a lease with Brookfield Property Partners for a new office at 5 Manhattan West, where the company has secured more than 360,000 square feet of state-of-the-art working space for 15 years. At its new offices in Manhattan West, Amazon will create a wide variety of roles, from software engineers and data analysts to economists. The offices will be the primary New York location for Amazon Advertising, with teams spanning marketing, product, design and engineering. Occupying the entire sixth and seventh floors, as well as a portion of the eighth and 10th, the company&#8217;s lease brought the building to a 99 percent occupancy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The property\u00a0features 1.8 million square feet spanning across 16 levels, with 100,000 square feet of retail space. Formerly known as 450 W. 33rd St., Brookfield invested $300 million in transforming the building\u00a0into a collaborative urban space with large floor plates and floor-to-ceiling glass. The redevelopment was designed by REX Architects. The asset is part of the larger eight-acre Manhattan West, a six-building mixed-use development, which will soon feature six million square feet of Class A office space, a boutique hotel, luxury residences and street-front retail.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAmazon\u2019s expansion is the latest example of a leading company drawn to Manhattan West by the unparalleled access, state-of-the-art office space, and experiential culinary, health and wellness and fashion provided by Brookfield\u2019s newest placemaking destination,\u201d<\/em> said Ric Clark, senior managing partner &amp; chairman of Brookfield Property Partners, in prepared remarks. <em>\u201cWe are excited that one of the world\u2019s most innovative and iconic companies will contribute to the dynamic environment we are creating at Manhattan West.
