Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, a Hilton brand, has signed a management agreement with Ithaafushi Investments Pvt. to open Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, a 138-key hotel scheduled for completion in early 2019.<\/p>\n

The opening of the five-star property will mark the first ground-up project for the Waldorf Astoria brand and Hilton\u2019s second in the Maldives overall. Last year, Hilton announced plans to develop a Waldorf Astoria in San Francisco<\/a>, slated to open in 2020 or 2021.<\/p>\n

Villas over water<\/h2>\n

Located on the South Make Atoll, the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi will be a 20-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport and about 20 minutes away from the Maldivian capital of Male. The resort will feature 138 villas on the beach and over water, offering one-, two- and three-bedroom villas and a four-bedroom presidential suite. Each villa will be equipped with a private outdoor pool, jacuzzi and a lounge deck area.<\/p>\n
