Ayres Hotel at Millenia in Chula Vista, Calif.<\/p><\/div>\n

Millenia Commons, a 131,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Chula Vista, Calif., is beginning to take shape as construction begins on the mixed-use center and also on a 135-key Ayres Hotel that are part of the multi-billion dollar 210-acre master-planned Millenia community<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Retail component<\/h2>\n

The 12.5-acre lifestyle center is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2018 and will be the primary retail component of Millenia, which is designed to be the urban epicenter of South San Diego County. Preleasing efforts by Flocke & Avoyer have resulted in leases with HomeGoods, Cost Plus World Market, Ross Dress for Less, buybuy Baby, Mattress Firm, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Papagayos Grill & Cantina, Menchie\u2019s Frozen Yogurt, Great Clips, Jamba Juice, McDonalds\u2019 and Pacific Dental Services.<\/p>\n

Sudberry Properties, the developer of Millenia Commons, purchased the property from Stratford Land for the lifestyle center in May. Meridian Development is developing the master-planned community for Stratford Land. Millenia Commons is Millenia\u2019s first phase of retail. Sudberry Properties\u2019 development team includes Andrew Hull Stevenson Architects, and GroundLevel Landscape Architecture. Hazard Construction is doing the initial grading and infrastructure work for Millenia Commons, which will extend on both sides of Millenia Avenue on two separate parcels and feature a contemporary urban design with an emphasis on walkability and outdoor gathering spaces.<\/p>\n

Bruce D\u2019Eliscu, principal, Ayres Hotels of Southern California, said his company is also looking forward to being part of the master-planned community.<\/p>\n

\u201cAyres Hotels\u2019 fresh urban perspective is a perfect complement to Millenia\u2019s future as the strategic hub of the Cali Baja Bi-National Mega-Region. We are poised to take full advantage of future business growth and the strong South County economy,\u201d<\/em> D\u2019Eliscu said in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n

Hotel amenities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Ayres Hotel is scheduled to open in about a year and will be the company\u2019s second hotel in San Diego County and 22nd<\/sup> hotel in Southern and Central California. The new hotel will include a full bar in the lobby and the outdoor courtyard as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center, three conference rooms and a boardroom. The lobby will feature a projection celebrating Olympic moments as the hotel\u2019s location is 2.5 miles from the former Olympic Training Center now known as the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.<\/p>\n

The hotel development team includes architectural design by ACS Architectural Services and landscape architecture by Village Green, both of Newport Beach, Calif. Ayres Group is the general contractor.<\/p>\n

A multi-billion dollar community<\/h2>\n

Millenia, which is designated a Smart Growth Urban Center by the San Diego Association of Governments, is planned for 3,000 multifamily residents, 2 million square feet of Class A office space, 1.5 million square feet of retail, hospitality, civic and mixed-use projects and six urban parks that will be woven together with a system of tree-lined promenades, bikeways and plazas.<\/p>\n

Chestnut Properties is developing office space while the residential options, including rental apartments and a variety of homes for sale, are being built by Trammell Crow Residential, Fairfield Residential, Chelsea Investment Corp., Shea Homes San Diego and Meridian Communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
