The most recent addition raises Southern Power\u2019s wind producing capacity to more than 1,500 megawatts of wholesale energy.<\/p>\n<h2>Technical specifications<\/h2>\n<p>The Concho County project consists of 43 wind turbines manufactured by Vestas. Each turbine is mounted on top of a 285-foot-tall tower and has a 413-foot, three-blade rotor connected to a generator. Upon completion, which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2018, Vestas will maintain and operate the facility in partnership with Southern Power. The project\u2019s developer, RES, will also provide the balance of plant construction at the facility. When operational, the full capacity of the electricity and associated renewable energy credits (RECs) generated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/seymour-hills-wind-farm-to-power-akamai-technologies\/\">wind farm<\/a> will be sold under two separate power purchase agreements with General Mills and General Motors. Both companies will have the option to keep or sell the RECs.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Power\u2019s wind facilities are part of the company\u2019s 3,400-megawatt renewable fleet, which consists of 37 solar, nine wind and biomass facilities.
