Charles Hazen, Transwestern Investment Group<\/p><\/div>\n

Transwestern Investment Group, the independent investment management affiliate of Transwestern<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>has appointed Charles Hazen as president.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy immediate plan is to get to know the team and begin focusing the entire organization on\u00a0maximizing the performance of our existing portfolios as well as identifying\u00a0new initiatives and strategies for growth,\u201d <\/em>Hazen told Commercial Property Executive. \u201cFor instance, we think there\u2019s an opportunity in the multifamily sector to bring more product online that is modest in pricing. Much of the new product built over the last several years has been high-end, and certain markets are in need of rental housing that is geared toward the workforce.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

For the past four years, Hazen has led Stanmore Partners, a real estate development and investment firm founded in 2013. Before that, he spent almost three decades in executive positions at Hines Corporate Properties.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have spent over 32 years in various roles in the real estate industry,\u201d <\/em>Hazen said. \u201cFrom developing malls, office buildings and apartments to being CEO of two public REITs that invested in major markets in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Europe and Australia, I have seen different aspects of the\u00a0industry and many types of\u00a0transactions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In his new role, the veteran real estate professional will have leadership responsibility for the strategic direction, investor relationships and operational activities for all of TIG\u2019s business units.<\/p>\n

According to Hazen, he is looking forward to working with the impressive group of professionals that are part of TIG.\u00a0\u201cI am excited to discuss their thoughts on where the best investment opportunities are today and what strategies hold the most promise for the future,\u201d <\/em>he said. \u201cSecond is meeting our investors. They are the engines that drive our business and TIG is intensively focused on exceeding their expectations. Third, I am really looking forward to leveraging the Transwestern family of companies.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Growth in key sectors<\/h2>\n

Up ahead, TIG\u2019s strategy is to grow its business and investment strategies for the team and its investors through\u00a0a disciplined approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue our focus on warehouse and distribution facilities, which have fared well from e-commerce,\u201d <\/em>Hazen said. \u201cWe are also bullish on the office and multifamily sectors, though some markets present better opportunities than others in the current economy.
