Nelson will continue to serve on the company&#8217;s board of directors and will be replacing the current CEO Scott Bowman.<\/p>\n<h2>Leadership Success\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Before joining GNL, Nelson served as chief executive officer with several public and private companies including Orbitex Management, a $17 billion financial services company and Eaglescliff Corp., a specialty investment banking, consulting and wealth management company, where he was also chairman from 1986 until 2009. Nelson served as a director of Icahn Enterprises LP and\u00a0Voltari Corp. from 2011 to 2015 and chairman again, from 2012 to 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nelson&#8217;s tenure as a board member includes international business and capital markets experience. He will continue to serve as a board member for Icahn and Herbalife. Nelson was elected as a member of GNL&#8217;s board in March of 2017 and serves on the nominating, governance and audit committees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We welcome Jim to the leadership team of GNL. As a director and the chairman of GNL&#8217;s audit committee, Jim has had the opportunity to acquire a deep understanding of GNL&#8217;s portfolio and operations with regard to its investment process, financial capacity, and currency and interest rate hedging capabilities,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0said Sue Perrotty, non-executive chairperson for GNL, in prepared remarks.\u00a0<em>&#8220;On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are confident that his experience in real estate and international capital markets will help further GNL in its progress as one of the premier globally-focused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/global-net-lease-opens-new-chapter\/\">net lease REITs<\/a>.
