The new 88,914-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in late fall.<\/p>\n<p>The property, built in the 1980s, is located on a 6.2-acre lot at 3015 Tower Ave. and will provide 737 indoor climate-controlled and heated self-storage units that feature high-tech safety features. Currently, U-Haul Moving &amp; Storage of Superior offers truck and trailer sharing, moving supplies and U-Box portable moving and storage containers out of a temporary showroom. The company\u2019s project includes a new showroom and a professional hitch installation service.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;There hasn&#8217;t been climate-controlled and heated self-storage in Superior,&#8221;<\/em> Bill Piette, president of U-Haul Co. of Northern Minnesota, said in a prepared statement. <em>&#8220;We&#8217;re the first to the party and we&#8217;re excited to offer our quality U-Haul products and services to this deserving community.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Support for the community<\/h2>\n<p>Piette announced at least six team members from Superior will be employed once the new location is fully operational, in an attempt to increase job growth within the community.<\/p>\n<p>U-Haul acquired the vacant department store on May 11 as part of its corporate sustainability initiatives, which support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/u-haul-transforms-abandoned-property-into-self-storage-facility\/\">infill developments<\/a>\u00a0meant to help\u00a0local communities lower their carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p><em>Image via Google Street View<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U-Haul plans to transform a vacant building in Superior, Wis., into a 737-unit self-storage facility.
