According to <em>OregonLive,\u00a0<\/em>the $178.4 million project, will be the first of its kind in Oregon and will provide a much-needed economic boost for the eastern Multnomah County community.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are excited to bring our first fulfillment center to the state of Oregon, creating 1,500 full-time jobs in Troutdale,\u201d<\/em> Akash Chauhan, Amazon\u2019s vice president of North America Operations, said in a statement. <em>\u201cGovernor Brown, the city of Troutdale, and many others have been instrumental in our decision to locate the new fulfillment center in the area.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>$20 Million Land<\/h2>\n<p>At the moment, Amazon operates a sortation center in Hillsboro, Ore., and Prime Now hub in Portland, Ore. At the new 855,000-square-foot Troutdale fulfillment center, employees will pick, pack and ship items including books, electronics and toys.
