Originally built in 1913, the Beaux-Arts-style structure,\u00a0designed by local architect William Bender, served the charitable organization\u00a0until 1959. RSTP plans to expand Hotel Clariana\u00a0on the parking lot it\u00a0owns next to the property\u00a0and create 60 additional rooms, a pool and new lobby.<\/p>\n<h2>Two-Year Makeover<\/h2>\n<p>Located at 100 East Santa Clara St., the building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. After RSTP acquired it in 2009, the property hosted the\u00a0Redevelopment Agency\u2019s Entrepreneur Center. While keeping the historic fa\u00e7ade, interior alterations and renovations took two years to complete. Amenities of the five-story building include a business center, meeting rooms, a gift shop and a fitness center.<\/p>\n<p>San Jose International Airport is only 10 minutes away from the hotel. The VTA light rail is two blocks away, while the Diridon Train Station, which connects with San Francisco, is one mile away. San Jose State University, San Jose City Hall, restaurants and bars at San Pedro Square are all within walking distance of the property.
