The Florida Department of Environmental Protection\u2019s Green Lodging program awarded a Two-Palm rating to Marco Beach Ocean Resort in the Gulf of Mexico, re-certifying it as an environmentally friendly destination.<\/p>\n
The 93-suite property located at 480 Collier Blvd. on Marco Island was originally certified as a Florida Green Lodge in 2010, and has received the triennial designation since. The certification acknowledges the resort\u2019s voluntary initiatives to conserve and protect Florida\u2019s natural resources. Eligible properties must comply\u00a0with five core standards: waste reduction; reuse and recycling; water conservation; energy conservation efficiency; indoor air quality; and communication and education for guests, employees and the public. Furthermore, the Florida Green Lodging properties must submit environmental performance data and implement at least two new environmental practices annually. The program works on multiple fronts: it benefits the environment while helping designated properties save money and increase occupancy data.<\/p>\n

We are constantly improving our practices to protect our environmental treasures.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Marco Beach Ocean Resort, a designated AAA Four Diamond resort for 15 consecutive years, offers 78 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom suites, each with a kitchenette, spacious living room and private balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico or the garden terraces. The facility recently upgraded the interiors of its suites and equipped them with Smart TVs with internet access.
