Washington, D.C.<\/strong>\u2014Regency Centers Corp., a national owner, operator and developer of grocery-anchored shopping centers, has announced a new ground-up development in Chantilly, Va. The company is investing approximately $44.5 million in The Field at Commonwealth, an 180,000-square-foot shopping mall anchored by a 120,000-square-foot Wegmans Food Market. The center is slated to come online in 2018.<\/p>\nThe property is strategically located in a Class A office market, at the intersection of US-28 and Westfields Boulevard. In addition, the retail center is close to Dulles Airport and key governmental employers, being situated within the D.C. metro area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Field at Commonwealth is going to transform the Chantilly and Westfields area into a vibrant retail corridor in Northern Virginia. The importance of bringing the dominant gourmet grocer in the Washington, D.C., market to the project cannot be overstated.
