One Grove Street, Houston, Texas<\/p><\/div>\n

Houston<\/strong>\u2014One Grove Street, Burton Construction\u2019s 626,378-square-foot, 17-story, Class A office tower in Houston\u2019s Upper Kirby district, was awarded LEED Gold certification.<\/p>\n

“Achieving LEED certification is more than implementing sustainable practices. It represents a commitment to making the world a better place and it influences others to do better,” Mahesh Ramanujam, president & CEO of USGBC, said in a prepared statement. “Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role of the building industry in that effort, Burton Construction demonstrates their leadership through their LEED certification.”<\/p>\n

The building\u00a0is part of the Kirby Grove mixed-use environment, which also includes Levy Park, another Burton Construction redevelopment project. One Grove Street features ten levels of integrated parking, ground floor retail space and 250,000 square feet of office space.<\/p>\n

The development achieved LEED certification for the implementation of practical and measurable strategies and solutions that boosted the asset\u2019s performance, turning it into a sustainable site development through water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and indoor environmental quality. One Grove Street’s\u00a0LEED project team consisted of Rennell Associates, Kirksey Architecture, TCI, Midway and Mu\u00f1oz + Albin Architecture & Planning.<\/p>\n

Aside from One Grove Street, several other Burton Construction developments have received LEED certification. The 96,000-square-foot Det Norske Veritas Class A office building and the 25,000-square-foot Altus Baytown Diagnostic Center are\u00a0LEED Gold-certified due to their\u00a0core, shell and tenant interiors. Also, the 60,000-square-foot Oak Park Plaza office building in the Westchase district is LEED Silver.<\/p>\n
