The company is planning to transform the mall into a mixed-use community with retail, residential and entertainment components to create an urban village on the west side. The new Landmark, originally built in 1965,\u00a0will feature a line-up of retail, Class A residences, multiple plazas, outdoor seating, seasonal entertainment, full service and fast-casual dining options, green spaces, an updated transit center, public art and a luxury cinema.<\/p>\n<p>The Howard Hughes Corp. is rebuilding the site, which is located 9 miles from Washington, D.C., on the\u00a0initial rezoning approval by the Alexandria City Council passed in June 2013.
