Camden, N.J<\/strong>.\u2014On the last working day of 2016, energy technology company Holtec International received temporary certificates of occupancy for its new $312 million, 600,000-square-foot manufacturing and technology center and manufacturing complex in Camden, N.J.<\/p>\n

Starting in mid-February, the company\u2019s staff, currently at a facility in Marlton, N.J., will start to relocate to the new 50-acre campus at the Port of Camden on the Delaware River, a site that formerly had been home to the New York Shipbuilding Corp.<\/p>\n

The latest milestone took place more than a year ahead of schedule, Dr. Kris Singh, Holtec\u2019s president & CEO, said in a prepared statement last week. He added that the next step will be for the manufacturing plants to be outfitted with equipment and machinery. Some of these devices are larger than a typical apartment.<\/p>\n

Holtec designs and builds equipment for nuclear, solar and conventional power plants worldwide and is perhaps best known for its work in the design and manufacture of parts for nuclear reactors and of equipment to manage spent nuclear fuel, such as storage casks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled at the prospect of our designers, analysts, thinkers, innovators, inspectors, and project managers rubbing elbows everyday with our green collar workers in a nurturing technical work environment,\u201d Singh added.<\/p>\n

The project was approved in 2014 for up to $260 million in tax incentives from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority\u2019s Grow New Jersey program. Ground was broken in July 2015 for the facility, which is expected to create 400 jobs.<\/p>\n

The project\u2019s primary contractor has been Joseph Jingoli & Son Inc., of Lawrenceville, N.J.<\/p>\n
