Atlanta<\/strong>\u2014The Weather Co.<\/a>, purchased by IBM<\/a> in January, is relocating its headquarters from Cobb to Atlanta<\/a>. The move to 1001 Summit Blvd. will create 400 new jobs including positions in software and product development, engineering, technology<\/a> and marketing, among others.<\/p>\n

“The combination of technology and expertise from The Weather Co. and IBM is progressing well as we create additional value for the clients of both companies,” Cameron Clayton, CEO & general manager at The Weather Co., said in prepared remarks. “The additional hiring and the move to a new headquarters are indicative of the support and investment that IBM is providing to attract and retain the best and brightest as we build this amazing business.”<\/p>\n

Built in 1994, the new headquarters is a 475,000-square-foot office<\/a> building comprising 21 floors, 1,913 parking spaces and a first floor 2,500-square-foot retail space also home to Cox Media Group, Zurich and Crawford & Co., according to Yardi Matrix<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

“The Weather Co. has made significant contributions in Georgia for more than three decades,” added Governor Nathan Deal. “The company’s decision to expand its workforce in the metro Atlanta area is a reflection of our state’s ability to retain dynamic companies with our business-friendly environment and highly skilled workforce.”<\/p>\n

Lindsay Martin, Georgia’s Department of Economic Development director of existing industry & regional recruitment represented the Global Commerce division in partnership with the Metro Chamber and Georgia Power.<\/p>\n

“We are excited that The Weather Co., a leader in the technology industry is expanding their operations here,” stated GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “We thank The Weather Company for their growth and confidence in the Atlanta area and look forward to supporting them as they continue to provide weather data to millions of consumers and thousands of businesses around the world.”<\/p>\n
