Washington<\/strong>\u2014Iron Mountain Inc.<\/a> recently broke ground on an 83-acre data center campus in Manassas, Va. Kessinger\/Hunter & Co.<\/a> has been selected as the development partner for the first, 150,000-square-foot phase of the project. The data center will be built to Uptime Tier III construction standards for critical infrastructure design and availability.<\/p>\n

“Kessinger\/Hunter is a long-standing partner of ours, and understands the premium we place on security and reliability in our data centers,\u201d said Mark Kidd, senior vice president & general manager of Iron Mountain Data Centers. \u201cWhen completed, our Manassas campus will deliver superior physical security, lower power costs and a reduced tax structure compared to locations nationally, without sacrificing performance, meeting our customers\u2019 high standards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iron Mountain\u2019s Northern Virginia data center campus will feature 60 megawatts of capacity spread across at least four individual colocation facilities. The currently under-construction building will offer 10.5 megawatts of critical power and a flexible design which will meet the strict requirements of cloud services providers, Federal Government Agencies, systems integrators, financial services firms and healthcare companies.<\/p>\n

The campus is located in a \u201cfiber-rich\u201d area that will offer customers cost-effective, high performance connectivity to the Ashburn, Va., network ecosystem. As with all the company\u2019s data centers, Iron Mountain will complete FISMA High, ISO 27001, PCI DSS Level 1, HIPAA, and SOC 2 Type II compliance audits and certifications. The campus will also comply with Federal technology and environmental regulations, such as the Data Center Consolidation Initiative (DCOI) and Executive Order (EO) 13693, enabling Federal Agencies and integrators to comply by stated deadlines for efficient, sustainable data centers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The development team consisting of Chuck Hunter, John DeHardt, and Kevin Curtin will oversee the building development and land infrastructure improvements, along with Kansas City<\/a>-based JE Dunn Construction Group<\/a> and Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co.<\/a><\/p>\n

The first phase of the project is expected to come online in mid-2017.<\/p>\n
