Behind the project are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mortenson.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Mortenson Construction<\/a>\u2014acting as the development company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysunshare.com\/index.php\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SunShare<\/a>\u2014the company that will take on the administrative tasks of the facilities, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realcapitalsolutions.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Real Capital Solutions<\/a>\u2014the project owner.<\/p>\n<p>The three companies are partnering to build 11 megawatts of solar gardens in 2016, resulting in a collective portfolio that will serve over 6,000 customers across Minnesota in 2017. WakeSun, an affiliate of Real Capital, is developing and financing the construction of the solar gardens.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Consumer demand for solar energy is increasing at a rapid rate. These projects provide residential and commercial entities with the ability to utilize solar power who otherwise may not have been able to,&#8221; said Trent Mostaert, vice president &amp; general manager of Mortenson Solar &amp; Emerging Renewables, in a prepared statement. &#8220;We are pleased to serve as the EPC contractor on these important projects as well as those planned for next year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota citizens have access to locally-produced solar energy since 2013 when the Minnesota State legislature passed the Solar Energy Jobs Act. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xcelenergy.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Xcel Energy<\/a> customers can choose their energy source, regardless if their homes are suitable for rooftop solar or wish to avoid the upfront capital expense.
