New York<\/strong>\u2014Olshan Properties<\/a> has appointed Kenneth Marshall as head of retail<\/a> operations effective September 2016.<\/p>\n

Based in the firm\u2019s Columbus office, Marshall will report directly to CEO Andrea Olshan, working as a member of her executive team with responsibility for all retail assets. In this newly created role, Marshall will focus on growing the firm’s highly diversified, 10 million-square-foot retail portfolio through strategic acquisitions, as well as overseeing management of the portfolio\u2019s day-to-day operations.<\/p>\n

Marshall\u2019s career in retail real estate spans almost a quarter of a century. He joins Olshan Properties most recently from retail REIT Washington Prime Group (formerly WP Glimcher<\/a>), where he served as vice president of development overseeing retail and office development projects for the company, including a vertically integrated mixed-use lifestyle center and a $25 million strategic mall renovation. Prior to that, Marshall was executive vice president of Colonial Properties Trust\u2019s 11 million-square-foot commercial division, where he led asset management, leasing, operations, development and capital improvement spending.<\/p>\n

Marshall holds both a bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with supplemental study in real estate. He is currently a registered architect in the state of Illinois and a regular contributor to International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) publications. Marshall has also been a frequent speaker at ICSC sessions and panels, and has been a featured panelist at the Urban Land Institute\u2019s Retailing Program.<\/p>\n
