West Elm at Empire Stores, Brooklyn<\/p><\/div>\n

New York<\/strong>\u2014Home furnishings retailer West Elm<\/a> has celebrated the relocation of its headquarters and opening of its 100th<\/sup> store along the East River in Brooklyn. The new store opened August 18 and is located within Empire Stores, the new Brooklyn Bridge Park cultural complex set to incorporate seven floors of corporate offices, a rooftop park, restaurants and retail space.<\/p>\n

West Elm now occupies 97,650 square feet of office space showcasing Workplace\u2014the company\u2019s contract furniture line. The office opened with more than 300 in-house designers, merchants, planners and creative teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt our core, West Elm is a start-up Brooklyn brand,\u201d West Elm President Jim Brett said in a statement. \u201cSo we were happy to support our hometown by making an early commitment to Empire Stores as its anchor tenant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Empire Stores is the result of Midtown Equities\u2019 plan to convert warehouses along the waterfront in Brooklyn\u2019 Dumbo neighborhood into upscale retail and office space<\/a>. The complex\u2019s tenant roster also includes 72 and Sunny, an advertising company with offices in Los Angeles, New York and Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
