Power<\/a> has acquired Apple Blossom, a proposed wind farm in Huron County, Mich., from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geronimoenergy.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Geronimo Energy LLC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The price of the transaction was not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSempra U.S. Gas &amp; Power is pleased to expand and diversify its renewables portfolio through the acquisition of the Apple Blossom wind project, the company\u2019s first wind project in the state of Michigan,\u201d Steve Schooff, Sempra&#8217;s director of communications, told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\">Commercial Property Executive<\/a><\/em>. \u201cThe wind-rich landscape in Huron County, Mich., along with the vision and support of the state\u2019s leadership, Consumers Energy, project landowners and the community, make Northeastern Michigan\u2019s Huron County an ideal location for the development of a utility-scale wind project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the wind project is completed, by year-end 2017, Sempra U.S. Gas &amp; Power\u2014along with its affiliates and project partners\u2014will have wind facilities in eight states totaling more than 1,300 megawatts of generating capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a leading U.S. developer of renewable energy projects, Sempra U.S. Gas &amp; Power is committed to investing in environmentally-sustainable projects that promote energy independence, which is also currently a priority for Michigan residents,\u201d Schooff said. \u201cWhen completed, the Apple Blossom wind farm will generate enough stable, clean energy to power about 38,000 Michigan homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition of the Apple Blossom wind project aligns with Sempra U.S. Gas &amp; Power\u2019s ongoing focus on the development of zero-emission, renewable energy projects.<\/p>\n<p>The project supports Consumer Energy\u2019s efforts to expand its clean energy portfolio as customers are increasingly expressing interest in more renewable energy development in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Sempra U.S. Gas &amp; Power is a leading developer of renewable energy and natural gas projects with a focus on zero-and low-emission fuels.
