Sacramento, Calif<\/strong>.\u2014Seefried Industrial Properties<\/a> and USAA Real Estate Co.<\/a> are developing Amazon<\/a>\u2019s new fulfillment center in Sacramento, Calif., the fourth fulfillment center the company has added over the last four years, and 10th<\/sup> in the state overall.<\/p>\n

The facility will be located at Metro Air Park, a long-awaited business development near Sacramento International Airport. Employees at the new 855,000-square-foot Sacramento fulfillment center will pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur ongoing expansion in California, which started just four short years ago, is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in this state,\u201d Akash Chauhan, Amazon vice president of North American operations, said in a prepared release. \u201cCustomers are seeing on a regular basis Amazon\u2019s customer obsession, innovative culture, and operational excellence \u2013 all of which is driven by the 14,000-plus Californians who work in Amazon fulfillment centers across the state. We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished in California.\u201d<\/p>\n

Already in 2016, the shipping giant announced fulfillment centers in north Sacramento, Tracy and Eastvale, and it also currently fulfilling customer orders at its seven Golden State facilities in Moreno Valley, Patterson, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino and Tracy. The company also announced the development of new fulfillment centers in Kansas City<\/a> and metro Atlanta<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazon coming to Sacramento represents a big step forward as our community continues to grow,\u201d Roberta MacGlashan, chair of the Sacramento County board of supervisors, said in the release. \u201cWe have seen Amazon be a positive influence elsewhere in the state, and we are pleased that Amazon has chosen to invest in this region as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new facility is expected to open in 2017.<\/p>\n
