Design services firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Arup<\/a> will bring its international and regional experience in the design and renovation of transportation infrastructure to the redevelopment project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amtrak.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Amtrak<\/a>, joined by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and local transportation leaders from <a href=\"https:\/\/metrarail.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Metra<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtachicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Regional Transportation Authority<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofchicago.org\/city\/en\/depts\/cdot.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chicago Department of Transportation<\/a>, recently revealed plans to move forward with the next phase of the rehabilitation plan, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/amtrak-to-begin-12m-rehabilitation-of-chicagos-iconic-union-station-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">was first announced last year<\/a>. The Arup team will include local, regional and international experts who will restore the 90-year-old, Daniel Burnham-designed station to its former glory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChicago Union Station is an enormous asset to Amtrak as well as the city of Chicago,\u201d Stephen Gardner, Amtrak executive vice president &amp; chief of business development, said in a statement. \u201cThese efforts, combined with related efforts to advance new customer amenities and spur development of Amtrak\u2019s historic Station Headhouse and other assets, could catapult Union Station back into its role as a central anchor of the West Loop neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Located at 225 S. Canal St., on the city\u2019s West side, Chicago Union Station is the third-busiest rail terminal in the U.S., after Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station in New York City.
