The global alternative investment firm has signed on to acquire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daybreakutah.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Daybreak<\/a>, a master-planned community roughly 20 miles outside Salt Lake City in South Jordan, Utah, from developer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennecott.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Rio Tinto Kennecott<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a big deal that certainly has a big price tag, but neither V\u00e4rde nor Rio Tinto Kennecott is sharing the financial details of the agreement just yet.<\/p>\n<p>V\u00e4rde will snap up the sum total of Rio Tinto\u2019s land and associated assets at Daybreak. It\u2019s a list that includes 500 finished home sites; the SoDa Row <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/retail\/\" target=\"_blank\">Retail District<\/a>; Oquirrh Lake and accompanying secondary water assets; the Glass House Information Center; and perhaps of greatest note, 2,500 acres of developable land. V\u00e4rde will have the benefit of the seller\u2019s expertise when building out the property, as top players from Kennecott\u2019s land management team will join V\u00e4rde as part of a new company, Daybreak Communities, formed for the express purpose of managing the continued development of Daybreak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe acquisition of Daybreak directly aligns with our vision for owning top-quality real estate assets. It is a great fit in V\u00e4rde\u2019s overall real estate strategy, which includes extensive real estate holdings around the globe,\u201d Ali Haroon, global head of real estate at V\u00e4rde, said in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n<p>V\u00e4rde has not specified just how it plans to finance the purchase of Daybreak. However, it certainly has options.
