Upper-floor office tenants include Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Louis Licari and Phillips Auctioneers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to believe strongly in the retail and office market on Fifth Avenue and throughout New York City,\u201d Joe Sitt, CEO of Thor Equities, said in a prepared statement. \u201cHowever, after successfully implementing our business plan of improving this prime retail and office location and securing an internationally recognized tenant, we felt the time was right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/therealdeal.com\/2016\/06\/10\/french-billionaire-closes-on-purchase-of-thors-693-fifth\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">The Real Deal<\/a> reported that the purchaser was Marc Ladreit de Lacharri\u00e8re, chairman &amp; CEO of Fimalac, a Paris-based holding company that owns 20 percent of Fitch Ratings and a minority stake in Warburg Pincus.<\/p>\n<p>Thor had purchased the property, then known as the Takashimaya Building, back in 2010, around the time that the Japanese department store chain closed up shop in New York to concentrate on the Asian market.<\/p>\n<p>The company then began a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/thor-plans-200m-upgrade-of-former-takashimaya-building-in-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\">$200 million upgrade<\/a> of the building, to include renovating the first eight floors for solely retail use and installing a new glass facade and lobby designed by David Chipperfield Architects.
