Net proceeds from the transaction will be deposited into the GE Pension Trust.<\/p>\n<p>The news closely follows the announcement that GE Capital\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/ge-capital-to-sell-hotel-financing-arm\/\" target=\"_blank\">Franchise Finance business will be sold<\/a>, effective in the second quarter. The U.S. business, which provides real estate financing to owners of limited-service hotel properties, will go to Western Alliance bank, and Franchise Finance\u2019s Canadian business will be sold to an unidentified buyer.<\/p>\n<p>GEAM is a wholly owned subsidiary of GE, separate from GE Capital, but for about 12 months GE has been pursuing a strategy of divesting its financial-services entities to focus on its industrial businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis transaction will allow our firm to bring its active and alternative asset management capabilities to an even broader investor base, and enhance SSGA\u2019s ability to grow its presence in the pension plan outsourcing segment,\u201d Dmitri Stockton, GEAM chairman, president &amp;\u00a0CEO, said in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGEAM will bring new alternatives capabilities in direct private equity and real estate to SSGA while enhancing our existing active fundamental equity, active fixed income and hedge fund teams,\u201d added Ron O\u2019Hanley, president &amp;\u00a0CEO of SSGA.<\/p>\n<p>A GE spokesperson declined to provide any information about GEAM\u2019s commercial real estate portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>GE is being represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.credit-suisse.com\/global\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Credit Suisse<\/a> in this transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GE has agreed to sell its $115 billion asset management business to State Street Global Advisors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":882,"featured_media":1004140962,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[21743,21808,21783,23891,21742],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1004140958","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-deals","category-featured","category-investment","category-national","category-latest"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.0 (Yoast SEO v28.0) -
