\"ULIGalaGothamHallNYC10Mar2016GMorris<\/a>New York<\/strong>\u2014On the corner of 36th<\/sup> street and Broadway in New York sits the imposing Gotham Hall<\/a>, a decadent and monumental space built between 1922 and 1924 as the Greenwich Savings Bank building, but what is now a highly sought-after event space. There was not a more fitting backdrop for the Urban Land Institute<\/a> New York\u2019s (ULI NY) first gala than Gotham Hall, a still-standing tribute to the golden age of New York architecture, and a prime example of successful adaptive reuse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the March 10 event, seven New York-based winners in six categories were presented with awards for excellence in development for projects that represent ULI NY\u2019s commitment to sustainability, innovation and responsible land use. \u201cWhere New York real estate goes, the world follows, and these extraordinary projects reflect the future of the industry,\u201d said ULI New York Chairman Robert Lieber, \u201cWe are proud to help drive the conversation around sustainable development by recognizing leaders in our field who are changing the game and doing it right.\u201d<\/p>\n

One such leader in the field, Frank Monterisi, senior vice president at Related Companies<\/a>, was intimately involved with the development of the Housing Development winner, Hunter’s Point South, the largest new affordable housing development in New York City since the 1970s. Monterisi told CPE, “The entire team is incredibly proud of the community we have created at Hunter’s Point South Living. It is a great example of the diverse housing opportunities that can be created through public private partnerships.”<\/p>\n

\"ULIGalaGothamHallNYC10Mar2016GMorris<\/a>Winners were selected by a jury of 12 ULI NY members from major sectors of the real estate industry, and nominations were open to public, private and nonprofit projects from across the state as of September 2015.<\/p>\n
