Underhill will focus on the firm\u2019s growth in domestic and global markets, bolstering capabilities in select industry sectors, and enhancing the firm\u2019s integrated services. He is committed to \u201cfurthering the firm\u2019s leadership as an innovator in the tenant advisory space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Underhill, based in Cresa\u2019s Washington, D.C., office, replaces Richard Rhodes, who became Cresa\u2019s interim CEO in 2015. Rhodes continues to serve on the Executive Committee and the firm\u2019s Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Underhill served as strategic advisor on Cresa\u2019s Board of Directors. Before that, he was CEO of the Americas at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cushmanwakefield.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cushman &amp; Wakefield<\/a>, the world\u2019s largest, full-service, privately held real estate services firm. Previously, he was founder and president of The Staubach Co. \u2013 Northeast, which became the company\u2019s largest region before its sale to JLL\u00a0in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a terrific opportunity to help Cresa continue its global expansion,\u201d Underhill said in prepared remarks. \u201cI have deep respect for Cresa\u2019s business model \u2013 particularly its singular focus on being the world\u2019s best tenant advisory firm. This drives the firm\u2019s leadership initiatives and consulting orientation, and it leads to negotiating the best outcomes for clients \u2013 free of the conflicts that compromise most traditional real estate firms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJim is the ideal choice for us,\u201d added Cresa chairman Matt Feeney. \u201cHis hiring is the next step in our strategic plan. Having a leader who embraces change and innovation is critical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Underhill, a resident of the District of Columbia, received his MBA from Harvard Business School and taught at Harvard College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Washington &amp; Lee University.<\/p>\n<p>Underhill has served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations, including Junior Achievement, the Wolf Trap Foundation of the Performing Arts, Neediest Kids, the National Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.
