Cleveland<\/strong>\u2014Following an extensive and bumpy renovation process<\/a> worth approximately $50 million,\u00a0the late-Victorian style Schofield Hotel<\/a>\u00a0will finally open in March 2016, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants<\/a> announced.<\/p>\n

Built at the beginning of the\u00a020th\u00a0<\/span>century\u00a0in downtown Cleveland, the 172-foot, 14-story Schofield Building went through a full restoration process of its exterior, exposing the original and long-concealed terracotta fa\u00e7ade. Having served as office and retail space throughout the last century, the building is now ready to greet its first hotel guests.<\/p>\n

For the entire restoration process, Kimpton teamed up with local developer CRM Cos.\u00a0Inc.<\/a>, Cleveland Constructions<\/a>, designer\u00a0Warren Red<\/a>, and architecture team STUDIOCRM<\/a>. The resulting Kimpton Schofield is a 122-key hotel on floors 2-7, with an additional six suites and 52 luxury apartments on floors eight through 14. Sitting right in\u00a0the heart of Cleveland\u2019s downtown, at the corner of East Ninth and Euclid Avenue, the building\u2019s ground floor will host a 120-seat specialty restaurant and retail spaces.<\/p>\n

The hotel will offer a total of 3,800 square feet of banquet space, as well as Kimpton-style complimentary amenities such as bicycles or yoga mats. In true Cleveland spirit, amenities will also include craft beer nights and a loaner guitar program, on top of the brand\u2019s nightly wine hour. Additional services will include in-room spa services, valet parking, access to the business center, same-day dry cleaning and laundry, and city views.<\/p>\n

The Schofield scores big location-wise, with landmarks like The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Playhouse Square, the International Women\u2019s Air & Space Museum, the Cleveland State University, and the Terminal Tower all within a 20-minute walking distance. Sports fans who will check in at this hotel will be a short walk away from the Quicken Loans Arena (third largest NBA arena, home of the Cavaliers), the Progressive Field (home of the Indians) and the FirstEnergy Stadium (home of the NFL\u2019s Cleveland Browns).<\/p>\n

Acquired by the InterContinental Hotels Group in 2015, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants is an asset-light company that operates under management contracts. Its current portfolio includes more than\u00a060 upscale hotels in the United States, as well as 83 destination restaurants and bars.<\/p>\n
