The Robert Green Co.<\/a> and Fifth Avenue Landing LLC<\/a> have teamed up on a proposal to develop 5th Avenue Landing, a world-class convention center hotel development along the San Diego Bayfront.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity to build a world-class hotel on San Diego\u2019s Bay and provide the public with new, high-quality open space is an exciting opportunity for our company,\u201d said Robert Green, president of The Robert Green Co.<\/p>\n

Designed by Gensler Architects<\/a>, 5th Avenue Landing will consist of an 831-room convention center hotel and a 565-bed shared lodging hotel, located between the Convention Center and the San Diego Bay. It will also include an expanded marina, new public open space and viewing plazas open to all San Diegans and visitors.<\/p>\n

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the decision by Fifth Avenue Landing to move forward on the development comes a month after it sent a letter to city council members giving the city until March 1 to exercise an option to acquire its leasehold, situated between the Convention Center and San Diego Bay, for $13.8 million.<\/p>\n

A noteworthy element of the project is its public access plan, designed to enhance public accessibility to the Bay from downtown and fill the public access voids within the project area. These improvements will include a new bridge that will link the Convention Center public viewing platforms and new plazas along San Diego Bay.<\/p>\n

The $270 million project is expected to be previewed for conceptual approval by the Board of Port Commissioners within the next two months.<\/p>\n

Fifth Avenue Landing LLC, led by Arthur Engel and Raymond Carpenter, has held the ground lease on the six-acre Bayfront property at the corner of Convention Way and Marina Park Way for more than three decades.<\/p>\n

The company recently approached The Robert Green Co. to bring a hotel project to fruition, as it has a reputation for developing iconic hotels throughout the United States and is currently under construction on Pendry San Diego, a 317-room lifestyle hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
