Chicago<\/strong>\u2014The Telos Group LLC<\/a> recently announced that the 51-story, 1.1 million-square-foot office tower at 111 S. Wacker Drive<\/a> in Chicago\u2019s West Loop has earned LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Completed in 2005 on the site of the former U.S. Gypsum Building, 111 S. Wacker was the first speculative high-rise office building to receive LEED Gold certification in the Core & Shell category, and was later awarded LEED Gold for Existing Buildings Operations + Management (EBO+M). The Goettsch Partners<\/a>-designed 111 S. Wacker is now the sixth multi-tenant building in Chicago to earn LEED Platinum certification.<\/p>\n

All building tenants were involved in the recertification process, led by environmental\u00a0consultant\u00a0Goby LLC<\/a>, property manager JLL<\/a>, building ownership\u2019s advisors Metzler Real Estate<\/a>, and building owner Union Investment GmbH<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Class A office building at 111 S. Wacker earned LEED Platinum certification due to a number of improvements undertaken over the last few years, including smart building upgrades, commuter education, plumbing upgrades and a new waste reduction program.<\/p>\n

\u201cResearch has proven that the right green building investments also boost employee productivity,\u201d said Stuart Gordon of Metzler Real Estate. \u201cInnovation and productivity are evident everywhere when you walk through 111 South Wacker. It\u2019s more than the building systems and technology; it\u2019s the people who work here, and their commitment to a greater, healthier workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Located within just two blocks of Metra\u2019s Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center and the CTA\u2019s Brown, Orange, Green and Purple line trains, 111 S. Wacker is anchored by Deloitte<\/a>. The building\u2019s tenant roster also includes Wells Fargo Capital Finance, Bloomberg Grippo & Elden LLC, and Locke Lord LLP, among others. The tower incorporates a fitness center with on-site trainers, a 3,000-square-foot conference center with a 300-person ballroom, and Townhouse Restaurant & Wine Bar.<\/p>\n
