According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.environmentcaliforniacenter.org\/reports\/cac\/turning-wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>, wind power has grown exponentially\u00a0over the last dozen years in California, currently supplying sufficient energy to power 1,188,483 homes. Moreover, during the past year alone, California\u2019s turbines averted over 9 million tons of carbon dioxide pollution;\u00a0the equivalent of\u00a0taking more than 1.9 million cars off the roads. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWind power here in California is already growing steadily, reducing pollution and helping to solve the climate crisis,\u201d said Michelle Kinman, a clean energy advocate with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.environmentcalifornia.org\/sites\/environment\/files\/yeg\/amn-eoy15-b1\/index4.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Environment California<\/a>. \u201cBut we need policies to provide steady support for this clean energy resource to maintain our momentum in the fight against global warming.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The report shows that the tax incentives for clean energy expired late last year and any measure to reinstate them must be adopted before Congress adjourns for the year on December 18. \u201cRenewing tax credits for pollution-free energy will help sustain green jobs in California and reduce climate-changing carbon pollution,\u201d said Kinman. \u201cIt\u2019s critical for the future of our economy and our planet that Congress take action in the next seven days.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The research arrives as state officials determine how to adhere to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/executive-insight-jennifer-burke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clean Power Plan<\/a>, the centerpiece of President Obama\u2019s Climate Action that not only sets state-by-state limits on carbon pollution prom power plants, but also encourages clean energy development. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRegardless of whether you are working on the climate change issue or your passion is local economic development, it is worth your while to take a hard look at wind energy. Wind energy is affordable, reliable and clean, and it doesn\u2019t use fresh water, and so its future is very bright,\u201d said John Kostyack, executive director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/windenergyfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wind Energy Foundation<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Turning to the Wind points out that renewing tax credits for clean energy sources could become the catalyst for enough wind development by 2020 to avert up to 5.7 million tons of carbon pollution.
