\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Phoenix-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mebapts.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">MEB Management Services<\/a> has won a 2015 Real Estate Management Excellence Award for a program that aims to alleviate homelessness in the cities in which it operates, the Institute of Real Estate Management announced last week, appropriately, just before Thanksgiving Day.<\/p>\n<p>The REME Award, which recognizes \u201cinnovative business practices in the work place that demonstrate outstanding achievements related to corporate culture,\u201d was presented at the IREM Executive Edge conference held Oct. 20\u201324 at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2015\/11\/meb.jpg\"><img program, named Big Audacious Miracle, or BAM, \u201cfocuses on ending homelessness and encourages employees to reach out to local communities with the goal of making sure that every person has a home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BAM kicked off in December 2014 and since then has included a variety of efforts, MEB principal Libby Ekre, CPM, told <em>Commercial Property Executive<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In May of this year, the company, which manages more than 120 properties and 20,700 residential units in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California, held is first annual MEB Homeless Awareness week. Every MEB community participated by holding a food  and\/or clothing drive, engaging in education efforts and\/or working with business neighbors on ending homelessness. MEB had 211 cards designed for each state in which they operate, with the appropriate URL, such as &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.211arizona.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.211arizona.org<\/a>&gt; for Arizona. These cards are given to prospective residents who do not meet rental qualifications because of their income, criminal history, or past rental or home ownership history and to homeless individuals directly.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Ekre added, MEB is focused on growing its affordable housing portfolio.
