Abbadessa will be based in London, but will spend half of his time in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>For five years, Abbadessa was part of Hines\u2019 acquisition team in Milan, where he served as a fund manager with Hines Italia SGR. Hines <a href=\"https:\/\/www.multihousingnews.com\/post\/hines-sells-italian-subsidiary-to-management\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">recently sold<\/a> its interests in its regulated Italian fund management business to Manfredi Catella, who previously served as Hines\u2019 country head for Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Abbadessa will work with London-based fund managers Peter Epping, Paul White and their teams, as well as Hines European leadership, including CEO Michael Topham, CFO Lars Huber and Senior Managing Director Andreas Schreurs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cItaly has long been and continues to be a strategic market for Hines. Mario\u2019s return to the firm allows Hines to continue building on the legacy we have developed in Italy with new opportunities to continue to invest and develop here,\u201d said Topham.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHines is proud of the trust placed in us by our investors. With Mario\u2019s leadership and expertise in Italy, we look forward to finding new opportunities to place their capital in Italy,\u201d added Huber.<\/p>\n<p>Since entering Italy in 1999, Hines has developed 20 projects, including the landmark mixed-use development <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/hines-opens-landmark-project-in-milan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Porta Nuova<\/a> in Milan, which includes more than 1.5 million square feet (140,000 square meters) of office space, about 1.3 million square feet (125,000 square meters) of residential space and 430,000 square feet (40,000 square meters) of retail and cultural venues.
