St. Anthony Hotel, San Antonio<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

After a multimillion dollar renovation, historic downtown San Antonio’s St. Anthony Hotel<\/a> recently celebrated its grand reopening. Built in 1909, the St. Anthony was the city\u2019s first luxury air-conditioned hotel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe restoration of The St. Anthony is a cornerstone in The Luxury Collection brand\u2019s $300 million dollar investment effort this year to renovate and reopen some of our most iconic hotels in North America,\u201d said Hoyt Harper II, global brand leader, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts. \u201cWe are delighted to reintroduce this legendary property as part of The Luxury Collection, returning the beloved St. Anthony to its original grandeur and carrying on its legacy as a San Antonio mainstay for locals and visitors alike.\u201d<\/p>\n

The renovation took two years to complete. All 277 guest rooms were fully remodeled, including 72 suites, such as the John Wayne Suite. The modernized rooms were complemented by expanded and rejuvenated bathrooms featuring vanities, oversized showers and lavish marble and tile detail. Certain rooms maintain the original crown moldings, crystal light fixtures, fireplaces and vintage furniture pieces. The Presidential Suite with its more than 3,000 square feet of luxury accommodations and three bedrooms and four bathrooms was also revived.<\/p>\n

The hotel\u2019s renowned grand lobby, the Peacock Alley\u2014home to an impressive art collection that includes \u201cMonarch of the West,\u201d a 7-foot-tall painting once coveted by the National Gallery of Art\u2014 has also been fully restored, including the Hamburg Steinway concert grand piano acquired by owner Ralph Morrison. The lobby was complemented by authentic Calacatta marble floor and a grand staircase. The renovation includes the reopening of St. Anthony Club, the city\u2019s first private members-only venue. The restoration includes a new flagship restaurant, Rebelle, as well as a new cocktail lounge, Haunt.<\/p>\n

Considered the first luxury hotel in the city, St. Anthony Hotel features more than 31,500 square feet of restored indoor and outdoor event space and a rooftop pool and pool deck which have also been revamped. BC Lynd Hospitality<\/a> acquired the property in 2012 and at the time they\u2019ve announced a $24 million restoration.
