Associates.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Michael Fascitelli doesn\u2019t want to hire his three sons. Though the venerable New York real estate\u00a0executive, currently the CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperialcos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Imperial Companies<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/fascitelli-resigns-on-his-own-as-vornado-ceo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> the founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/dla-piper-conference-special-report-industry-leaders-detail-change-opportunity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MDF Capital<\/a> and the president and CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vno.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vornado Realty Trust<\/a>, could easily employ his influence to secure any one of his young adult sons a coveted position at his company, he said he\u2019d rather they finish college, work hard and pursue their own interests.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s this sense of dedication and the value placed on hard work that has earned Fascitelli his seat among the real estate elite.<\/p>\n<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crewny.org\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Commercial Real Estate Women Network of New York<\/a>\u2019s November 3 luncheon, Fascitelli participated in a discussion with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crainsnewyork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Crain\u2019s New York Business<\/a> senior real estate reporter Dan Geiger, talking about everything from family values and Frank Sinatra to Fascitelli\u2019s extracurricular activities as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panynj.gov\/bus-terminals\/port-authority-bus-terminal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Port Authority<\/a> board member and part owner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/bucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Milwaukee Bucks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With more than 30 years and counting in the New York real estate industry, Fascitelli has seen the transformation of the city and its neighborhoods firsthand. Recalling the formerly rough state of neighborhoods like Hell\u2019s Kitchen, which is now home to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/30-new-condos-underway-in-manhattans-west-side-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pricey apartments<\/a>, retail and entertainment, he said, \u201cThere isn\u2019t a bad neighborhood in New York.\u201d When it comes to questions of oversupply and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/sl-greens-tower-moves-forward-in-unprecedented-deal-with-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">density<\/a> in the Big Apple, he noted, \u201cI don\u2019t think New York is in bad shape. There\u2019s just always excess in these kinds of markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For those looking to avoid this excess, Fascitelli said he sees potential in areas like the South Bronx and the New Jersey waterfront, areas that are less developed than their other outer-borough counterparts, but are still within a feasible commuting distance from Manhattan. As commuters seem to make up more of the fabric of New York\u2019s workforce, Fascitelli, in his role on the board of the Port Authority, is looking forward to accommodate this growing trend.
