A piece of land that used to be occupied by the Werton Plaza Shopping Center in Livonia could be redeveloped into a personal storage facility.<\/p>\n

Livonia Storage Units<\/strong> submitted a request for rezoning the property, which is located at 28153 Eight Mile, from C-2 to manufacturing limited. As reported by Hometownlife.com<\/a>, half of the lot is currently occupied by the Grand River Academy charter school, while an auto parts shop operates to the north of the site.<\/p>\n

A number of redevelopment plans with different kinds of uses have been proposed for the remaining lot over the past few years, but none of these ideas were put into practice\u2014partly because there are limited types of businesses that could operate at this location, because of the site\u2019s proximity to a school. However, the low daily traffic would allow for a storage structure to be developed here.<\/p>\n

If the city council approves Livonia Storage Units\u2019 request, the site could be transformed into a self-storage facility with around 400 units.<\/p>\n

The city council is currently reviewing Livonia Storage Units\u2019 proposal, according to the news source. A decision is expected to be announced later this fall.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
