A $141.4 million renovation and expansion project is planned for Carolinas HealthCare System-Northeast, according to the Charlotte Business Journal<\/a>. <\/em>The upgrades mark the final phase of a $264 million overhaul initiated in 2009 by Carolinas HealthCare System.<\/p>\n

A three-story building, with space for a new inpatient center and an outpatient facility, will be built between two other existing buildings on the medical campus located at 920 Church St N in Concord. The new building will reach 185,000 square feet.<\/p>\n

The hospital\u2019s improvements will enhance customer access to health care, improve the infrastructure for cardiovascular services and include the renovation of 90 patient rooms, the replacement of 60 inpatient rooms and 42 additional observation beds.<\/p>\n

The non-profit hospital network Carolinas HealthCare System acquired the former NorthEast Medical Center in 2007. Plans at the time of the sale included an investment of more than $600 million in capital improvements.<\/p>\n
