Nashville\u2019s Belcourt Theater<\/a> is planned to go under renovation starting early 2016, according to the Nashville Business Journal<\/a><\/em>. The 90-year-old cinema theater will receive upgrades worth $4.5 million. The changes will be focused on restoring its history while paving its future.<\/p>\n

\"Belcourt<\/a><\/p>\n

Located at 2102 Belcourt Ave. in the Hillsboro Village district, Belcourt Theater is a non-profit venue for film, music and performing arts. With a history dating back to 1925, the cinema is a one-of-a-kind attraction in the city. Renovations are now in store for the property after years of restoration planning.<\/p>\n

Future upgrades for Belcourt Theater include a third screen, remodeling the lobby and box office, renovating the second floor, replacing all bathrooms and restoring the theatrical fly loft. So far, the cinema raised $2.2 million for the overhaul.<\/p>\n

Last year, the Belcourt Theater had 160,000 visitors and 116,964 film tickets sold, making 2014 the best year in the venue\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

A grand unveiling for the new Belcourt Theater is set for June 2016. In charge of the renovations is local firm R.C. Mathews Contractor<\/a>.<\/p>\n
