Representatives of Gilbane Building Co. and Mark Kauffman and Partners, architect Jonathan Parks, and local officials at the groundbreaking ceremony<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Work has officially kicked off on a mixed-use development that will bring multi-unit residential, office and fine arts to Sarasota\u2019s Rosemary District, Gilbane Building Co.<\/a> announced. Rosemary Square, located along the Boulevard of Arts, is the joint project of developer Mark Kauffman and Partners, architect Jonathan Parks and contractor Gilbane Building Co.<\/p>\n

Located near core downtown amenities, the now vacant tract of land will soon boast 30,000 square feet of retail and commercial office space as well as 50 multi-unit residential condo units\u201430 of which will be used by the Sarasota Opera to house its artists\u2014, a boutique theater and fine arts. A town square will also be included in the development, creating an outdoor focal point for residents, businesses and the public. The project will cost $20 million according to Herald Tribune<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cRosemary Square\u2019s convenient location to downtown Sarasota supports the economic growth of the area and local neighborhoods,\u201d stated Tim Hensey, Vice President Gilbane Building Company. \u201cThe timing is right for a project like this,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The development is slated for completion in the summer of 2016.<\/p>\n
