A 40-story office tower proposed by Mitsubishi Estate London<\/a> is now one step closer to reality.<\/p>\n

The Japanese company has received planning permission from the City of London to develop a 769,727-square-foot tower at 6-8 Bishopsgate and 150 Leadenhall St., The Evening Standard<\/em><\/a> reported. The property will be located in the city\u2019s skyscraper-riddled \u2018Eastern Cluster\u2019 area and will exceed the threshold for the BREEAM NC 2014 \u201cExcellent\u201d rating.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project is a major investment signaling Mitsubishi Estate\u2019s confidence in the City of London as a world financial centre,\u201dsaid Naoki Umeda, managing director & CEO of Mitsubishi Estate London in a prepared statement. \u201cWe are delighted that we will now be able to deliver a striking landmark building for London that will further enhance its global appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dubbed \u2018Prussian Blue\u2019, the tower was designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects<\/a> and will incorporate a blend of office space, ground-floor and mezzanine retail, as well as a public viewing gallery on the top floor. The team working on the project also includes development manager Stanhope plc<\/a>, structural engineer Arup<\/a> and cost consultant Alinea<\/a>.
