The solemn-looking building sitting at the Manhattan end of the Brooklyn Bridge and right next to Frank Gehry<\/a>\u2019s rippling residential behemoth landed itself a new tenant.<\/p>\n

Intergate.Manattan Building<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Transit Wireless<\/a>, the company that provides Wi-Fi internet access and cellular phone infrastructure in New York City\u2019s subway stations, signed a 15-year lease for 11,000 square feet of space at 375 Pearl St.\u2014the 32-story structure formerly known as the Verizon Building and One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza.<\/p>\n

Currently known as Intergate.Manhattan, the one million-square-foot tower has been owned by Sabey Data Center Properties<\/a> since June 2011, when the Seattle-based developer acquired the asset for $120 million from M&T Bank and Taconic Investment Partners. According to Commercial Property Executive<\/a><\/em>, Taconic owned the 29-floor condominium interest since 2007, when the real estate company bought the segment for $172 million.<\/p>\n

Transit Wireless\u2019 build-out at Integrate.Manhattan is set to be completed later this year and will represent a major expansion of capacity for the company\u2019s network of base stations throughout Manhattan and Queens. Apart from the building\u2019s great infrastructure, the landlord will provide Transit Wireless with floor space, utility power and condenser water for cooling.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be Transit Wireless\u2019 focal point and its control center. Millions of subway riders will be connecting through Transit Wireless, and Sabey Data Centers will be powering those connections. This is proof, in essence, that data centers are the utility of the Internet Age,\u201d said John Sabey, President of Sabey Data Center.<\/p>\n

Transit Wireless was represented by Alan Bonett and Bradley Cohn of Adams & Company Real Estate<\/a> in the deal, while Michael Morris of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank<\/a> spoke for Sabey Data Center.<\/p>\n
