Highland Mall is going through redevelopment under the new ownership of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Austin Community College<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The college district acquired Highland Mall in 2012 and has since transformed a former JC Penney store into a 214,000-square-foot campus that opened in 2014. The next phase consists of adding a residential component, reports the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Austin American-Statesman<\/a>. ACC and its partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redleaf-properties.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">RedLeaf Properties<\/a>, plan a 300-unit community of four- and five-story buildings that are scheduled to open in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The development will be located on the south side of the property and will include about 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a parking garage. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greystar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Greystar Real Estate Partners<\/a> was selected as the developer, the <em>American-Statesman\u00a0<\/em>reported.
