A proposal to build the first and only residential property at the retail development received the approval of the city\u2019s design panel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Atlanta-based <a title=\"Pollack Shores Real Estate Group\" href=\"https:\/\/pollackshores.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Pollack Shores Real Estate Group<\/a>, the project\u2019s developer, submitted the preliminary designs before the Urban Design and Architecture Review Panel in April. Plans included 9,000 square feet of first-floor retail and a parking garage with 350 residential units above, but the project was rejected by the city&#8217;s design panel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier this month the <a title=\"Baltimore Business Journal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/baltimore\/blog\/real-estate\/2015\/07\/canton-crossing-apartment-complex-next-to-target.html?iana=ind_cre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><em>Baltimore Business Journal<\/em><\/a> reported that Alexander Design Studios submitted a redesigned version with significant changes to the original project. The residential units and the 9,000 square feet of first floor retail will remain, but the parking garage has been moved out of sight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The six-story structure, which was originally planned for the building\u2019s north side, was replaced by a two-story garage which will run underneath the length of the property. This new design is meant to make parking more efficient and allows the developer to enhance the resident-oriented amenities\u2014as recommended by the design panel back in April\u2014and create a park-like area at the development.
