Spring Hill Mall redevelopment plan<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A NYC-based investor plans to breathe new life into a Northwest Chicago shopping center. Rouse Properties<\/a>\u00a0unveiled plans to redevelop the Spring Hill Mall<\/a> in West Dundee, Ill., and turn it into a vibrant mix of retail, dining and entertainment.<\/p>\n

The redevelopment, which is set to begin late 2015, includes the addition of a state-of-the-art Cinemark movie theatre as an entertainment anchor. Cinemark Holdings Inc.<\/a> is a leading motion picture exhibitor headquartered in Plano, TX. The eight-screen, 37,000-square-foot theatre is scheduled for opening in the spring of 2017.<\/p>\n

According to a news release, the large-scale plan was concocted by Rouse with the support of the Villages of West Dundee and Carpentersville. The total cost of the project, first introduced in February 2015, amounts to nearly $40 million, the Daily Herald<\/a><\/em> reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe applying our highly productive redevelopment formula at Spring Hill will serve as a catalyst for attracting new-to-market, high profile brands and will further strengthen its dominant position in the market,\u201d said Andrew Silberfein, president & CEO at Rouse.<\/p>\n

The 1.2 million-square-foot mall is one of the few indoor regional malls located in the far northwestern suburbs of Chicago. The property is easily accessible from three major highways \u2013 the I-90, Route 31 and Route 72. The 35-year-old mall is anchored by Macy\u2019s, Kohl\u2019s, Sears and Carson Pirie Scott.<\/p>\n
