\"Rendering<\/a>Although already busy with the redevelopment of the Tampa International Airport, Skanska<\/a> shed new light on the multi-phase project in a recent news release. The construction group has signed a supplemental contract to renovate and expand the Main Terminal. The agreement is worth $60 million, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska USA Building Inc.\u2014one of Skanska\u2019s four US business units\u2014for the second quarter of 2015.<\/p>\n

The three-phase final plan designed to update and expand the 3,300-acre campus was approved back in 2013, and the contractor began preliminary field work in December 2014. Tampa International Airport\u2019s governing board approved a concessions redevelopment plan this June and, according to the news release, the renovation is set to begin in July. When completed in November 2017, the project will add nearly 54,000 square feet to the terminal\u2019s third-floor transfer level, with about 15,000 square feet of indoor public seating and large outdoor terraces.<\/p>\n

According to the airport\u2019s official website<\/a>, a total of 65 new retail spaces will be created for shops, restaurants, convenience kiosks and bars. The redevelopment program aims to bring a local character to the airport, which means that some of Tampa Bay\u2019s top local brands will be represented in the concessions lineup.<\/p>\n
