The massive Metro West complex, at 300 N. Greene St., on the northwestern edge of the city\u2019s Central Business District, will be put on the market next month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Metro West complex was constructed in 1980, on an 11-acre site. It offers a total of 1.1 million square feet of space, as well as 410 garage parking spaces and 108 surface parking spaces. The property is configured as two separate structures, the North and South buildings. They are connected by a two-story wing that spans across West Mulberry Street.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Until last year, the Metro West complex was the home of the Social Security Administration. The SSA relocated its 1,600 workers at the start of the year and, since then, the property has been sitting empty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the GSA\u2019s website, the Metro West complex is slated to be sold at an online auction. The Office of Property Utilization and Disposal will manage the sale. Other details about the sale will be announced in the following days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When the Metro West complex opened, in the 1980s, many expected it to help revitalize the surrounding neighborhoods. The GSA now hopes that the property\u2019s repositioning will continue to play an important part in the area\u2019s revitalization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMoving properties into the disposal process makes more efficient use of the government\u2019s real estate assets.
