According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tulsaworld.com\/news\/local\/tulsa-to-become-premier-destination-with-route-experience-officials-say\/article_ed42799f-e1b7-52af-a401-3a34074fb8c2.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tulsa World<\/a>, city officials announced plans for the new center on May 20.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed the Route 66 Experience, the facility will be located on city-owned property near the waterfront, at the intersection of Southwest Boulevard and Riverside Drive. The complex will incorporate $4 million worth of interactive exhibits, restaurants, retail, an event center and a drive-in theater.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Dewey Bartlett told reporters that the project is particularly significant because Route 66 is an important part of the city\u2019s history, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox23.com\/news\/news\/local\/plans-interactive-route-66-themed-interpretive-cen\/nmLB8\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Fox23 reports<\/a>. The facility will be located on city-owned property near the waterfront. The Route 66 Experience will aim to attract tourists to the area and spark interest in the history of the iconic highway.
