Last month, Mazak Corp., a machine tool manufacturer based in Japan, completed a two-year, $30 million renovation and expansion of its manufacturing facility in Florence, Ky.<\/p>\n

Fort Mitchell-based Paul Hemmer Co., which has completed more than two dozen projects for Mazak in recent years, handled the renovation and expansion. Work started in the summer of 2013 and included several elements, notably a two-bay, 90,000-square-foot expansion that increased the size of the plant by 20 percent.<\/p>\n

Hemmer also carried an expansion and renovation program to increase productivity and efficiency in other areas of the plant. KZF Design was the architect. Since finishing the expansion, Hemmer has started work on a new 5,800-square-foot office mezzanine.<\/p>\n

Mazak\u2019s Florence campus covers about 800,000 square feet, with buildings on three of the four corners at the intersection of Industrial Road and Foundation Drive. While the company has a Florence address, some of the larger structures on the campus are located in neighboring Elsmere. Mazak employs about 750 people in Northern Kentucky and operates eight other facilities in North America.<\/p>\n
