The 120,000-square-foot facility will be constructed on a 15-acre site on Interstate 75 in the Cincinnati\u2013Dayton growth corridor.<\/p>\n<p>AK Steel&#8217;s Research and Innovation Center, which will replace an existing facility in Middletown, will be home to about 75 researchers, scientists and engineers. It will also house pilot lines that simulate manufacturing operations, ranging from melting and casting and hot- and cold-rolling to final finishing. The \u00a0pilot lines serve a variety of purposes, including research, enhancing existing products, problem-solving and product development.<\/p>\n<p>James Wainscott, AK Steel\u2019s chairman, president &amp; CEO, said in a statement that the company considered other locations, including several in other states. In the end, the company chose to remain in Middletown, where it was founded more than a century ago.
